Overview - Points of Interest
Clean Air and Water:
Radial Wind Farm will eliminate three million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions from the air each year, significantly reducing the amount of carbon dioxide, soot forming sulfur dioxide, smog forming nitrogen oxide, and neurological toxicant mercury in the Great Lakes. The levels of these pollutants in the fresh water are harming the Great Lakes' ecosystem. The only way to correct this is to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases released into the air.
On February 13, 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Control ("IPCC") consisting of hundreds of scientists from 113 nations issued a report indicating that there is a 90% certainty that man is responsible for global warming. Radial Wind Farm will be a significant step towards turning the tides of climate change in North America.
Energy Independence:
Serving the energy needs of the surrounding states, Radial Wind Farm provides a cost competitive renewable energy resource to Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan ("WIIM"), while reducing oil consumption by 339 million gallons per year.
Reduce and Stabilize Energy Costs:
The demand and cost of electricity in WIIM has increased significantly over the past several years. The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission released data indicating that the State will need 2,970 megawatts of new electricity by 2010 to keep up with demand. Wisconsin energy costs recently jumped 11% in 2006. Illinois households have seen increases in rates of between 22%-55% in 2007. Michigan spends more than $18 billion on fuel from out of state. These are examples of why we need Radial Wind Farm now.
Job Creation and Savings:
Radial Wind Farm will create more than 3,000 new jobs and enable over $1.2 billion in energy savings through 2020, enabling WIIM citizens to spend on needs other than energy, stimulating the economies and generating reinvestment in WIIM communities.
