Facts - Mid-Lake Plateau
The Radial Wind Farm will be located in the Mid-Lake Plateau region of Lake Michigan. This feature is located in the center and was undoubtedly an island on Lake Michigan during part of the time of the Lake Chippewa lowstand. This broad, relatively flat-topped cuesta, lying directly east of Milwaukee, lies generally at depths less than 90m and extends upward to minimum depths of 40-60m at three localities, extending approximately 250 square miles beneath the water of Lake Michigan. Escarpments which form its northwestern, western, and southwestern boundaries are exposed to the resistant eastward-dipping middle Devonian limestones. Deeper channels on the west and east, and the South Chippewa Basin on the south, bound the Mid-Lake Plateau and isolate it.
